The wallet in this picture isn’t one of the best cheap wallets for men. In fact, it’s not really a cheap wallet, at all – at least, not on my budget. The only difference between this wallet and the one that I just purchased is about $125 and those fancy C’s that are embossed on the front.
If you want to purchase a Men’s Coach Leather Wallet or a Frank Clegg alligator collection, you’ll have to put out a pretty good chunk of change. But, once you do, you can be really proud to pull it out of your pocket and have other people see that you use a very expensive wallet.
Or….you can keep the extra cash and have something left to put in your new wallet that you purchased for less than the cost of a couple movie tickets.
This isn’t one of the best cheap wallets for men, either. In fact, it’s not really a wallet, but it’s what I’ve been using for a wallet.
Actually it’s a business card holder. My wife picked up several of these for free at a business event that she went to. I decided that they would be acceptable to use as a wallet. I’ve worn out three of them in the past few years.
Ok, I admit. I am a cheapskate. It’s obvious from the picture that it’s time to dispose of this one and get a real wallet.

Bifold Wallets
Bifold leather wallets provide a classier look than their trifold counterparts. They don’t usually have as many pockets and dividers for organizing lots of cards and items. As long as they aren’t overstuffed with credit cards, keys, change, and licenses, they will be thinner and much more comfortable to use. If you plan to stuff multiple items in your wallet, you may be better served with a trifold or zippered wallet.

Zippered Wallets
A zippered wallet is a bifold with a zipper to hold it closed. Your possessions will be much more secure if you use a zippered wallet. Some zippered leather wallets are thinner, and some are designed with more compartments to hold more cards and other contents. It can be a little annoying when you always have to unzip and zip your wallet each and every time you use it, but it’s comforting to know that the contents are secured, and I’m less likely to lose anything from my wallet.

I may be cheap, but I don’t think I will ever become so much so that I carry around a home made duct tape wallet. Although, after watching this guy at work, I see that it’s possible to make a pretty slick looking wallet out of duct tape.

- If you only have a few credit or debit cards, you can use a thin wallet with only 3 card slots. If you carry more cards, you may want to find a wallet with more card capacity.
- Some people like to have their drivers license visible through a window in their wallet so that they can simply open their wallet and show their ID when necessary.
- A man who is a father may wish to have a place to store photos of his children.
- For those who don’t like to carry loose change around in their pocket, a zippered or snap-shut pocket for change is useful.
Just be sure to select a style that you are comfortable wearing. Since you will carry it with you and use it almost every day of your life, it should fit your style and your needs. Be sure to consider how the wallet will facilitate your organizational methods and ease of use.

I selected a zip-around wallet for myself because I like the fact that the contents are well secured and won’t accidentally fall out. I like the fact that it has a windowed pocket to hold my drivers license so that I don’t have to remove it whenever someones needs to see my ID. The other thing that I liked about this wallet is the number of pockets it has for cards and the dual pockets for currency.

Update – 3/23/13 – I’ve had this wallet for about a year and a half, now. I only have one wallet, and I keep it with me wherever I go. During the winter time, I carry it around in my coat pocket. In the summer, when I don’t wear a jacket of any type, I carry it in my back pocket. If I’m going to be sitting for any length of time, though, I may take it out of my pocket and set it next to me if there is a safe place to put it.
So far, the wallet shows very little, if any, signs of wear. That is very surprising to me, especially since I keep it jam packed with cards and receipts. Often, it is so full, that I can barely get it zipped shut. I would have expected the zipper to burst open, but it hasn’t. It has held together very nicely.
